5:00 p.m. Facebook o Youtube Live @colomboamericano Localizado en Harlem, Nueva York, el Centro Schomburg para la Investigación en la Cultura Negra es una de las más renombradas bibliotecas de investigación de la Biblioteca Pública de Nueva York, y una institución cultural líder a nivel mundial dedicada a la preservación y exhibición de materiales enfocados en personas afro americanas, pertenecientes a la diáspora africana y africanas. Conéctate a este conversatorio con su Directora, Joy Bivins, y descubre más sobre las colecciones y servicios y de cómo éstos tienen un impacto en la comunidad. Este encuentro es presentado en el marco del Seminario de Liderazgo Diálogos Afro Diaspóricos organizado por el Centro Cultural Colombo Americano, con el apoyo de la Embajada de los Estados Unidos, y en asocio con el Centro Schomburg de la Biblioteca Pública de Nueva York.
Joy Bivins (EE. UU.): fue nombrada Directora del Centro Schomburg para la Investigación de la Cultura Negra en junio de 2021. Bivins se unió a Schomburg en 2020 como Directora Asociada de Colecciones y Servicios de Investigación, una división de la Biblioteca Pública de Nueva York y un repositorio líder de materiales de archivo relacionados con la vida, historia y cultura africana, de la diáspora africana y afroamericana. Anteriormente se desempeñó como Curadora en Jefe del Museo Internacional Afroamericano, en Charleston, Carolina del Sur, y como Directora de Asuntos Curatoriales en el Museo de Historia de Chicago. Bivins tiene casi dos décadas de liderazgo experto y un amplio conocimiento curatorial en el arte y la cultura de la diáspora africana y tiene títulos de la Universidad de Michigan y la Universidad de Cornell. Ella es una orgullosa nativa del lado sur de Chicago. |
